Hillsboro- Monroe Crumley, former resident of Fountain and Parke counties, died Saturday in Evansville where he had made his home the past 20 years. He was 69. Born May 15, 1892, near Newtown, he was the son of John and Alice Bever Crumley. He was twice married. His first marriage was to Bertha Goff, who preceded him in death. His second marriage was to Ethel Rife, who survives. Mr. Crumley, a graduate of Newtown High School, taught school and farmed in this area. He later operated a combination service station and restaurant at Rockville for a number of years. Survivors, in addition to his wife; include a son, Dwight Crumley of Buchanan, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Mona Durbin of San Francisco, Calif.; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son and a sister, Miss Achsa Crumley. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Crumley Funeral Home here. Rev. Jack Eitelbuss of Mellott will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery west of Newtown. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Monday.
